Koppel, managed by Ron Thellman, won the best-of-three series, two games to none. Winning pitcher Welsh fanned nine batters for Koppel. Fran Evanson led Koppel at the plate with a two-run homer and Dom Pisani added an RBI-triple.

Mark Loccisano walked and Jeff Foley singled followed by a single by C.J. Stein's to cut the deficit to 6-4. Stein stole second base and Marty Conti's single drove in Foley and Stein to tie the score at 6-6. After Dave Gaibis singled Conti to third base, Brad Miles followed with the game-winning single. Mike Hufnagel led Wur-Ell with a home run, double and five RBI. Wur-Ell jumped out to a lead in the second inning behind a bases-clearing double by Hufnagel. Randy Craven added a solo home run in the inning to give Wur-Ell a 5-0 lead. Wur-Ell added three more runs in the third inning keyed by a two-run homer by Hufnagel to up the lead to 8-0. Calgon roared back with seven runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to close the deficit. Mark Duncan belted a three-run homer and Andy Fornadel followed with a two-run blast. Phil Eonta singled in a run and the Wur-Ell lead was cut to 8-7. Wur-Ell added a solo run in the top of the fifth inning and neither team scored the rest of the game. Darin King scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Medusa the win. The victory gave Medusa a one-game lead in the best-of-three series. Myers held a 3-1 lead before Medua tallied solo runs in the fifth inning and sixth inning to tie the score at 3-3. In the bottom of the seventh inning, King led off a single, stole second base, moved to third base on a wild pitch and score the winning run on a passed ball. Ellwood Federal downed Riverside Sunnyside, 4-1, to win the 34th Ellwood City Pony League Championship at Sanders Field. Joe Roth hurled a four-hitter to lead Federal to the victory. Federal, managed by Sam Battaglia, won the best-of-three series, two games to one. Sunnyside and Federal each scored a run in the first inning. After a scoreless second inning, Federal scored twice in the bottom of the third inning on a two-run single-run to give Federal a 3-1 lead. Federal scored an insurance run in the bottom of the fourth inning to close the scoring. Roth was the winning pitcher allowing one run on four hits with 10 strikeouts without a walk. Ed Loccisano rapped an RBI-double and Bill Chapman a double for Federal. Rozzo added a two-run single and Rick Bunney and Mike Guthrie added singles. Mike Potter led Sunnyside with a triple. Rod Hardy had an RBI-single and Steve Trybus and Rich Beegle added singles.

Vic Rangel rapped three hits to lead Federal offensively. The win gave Federal a one-game lead in the best-of-three series. Federal scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning and added a solo run in the second inning. Federal added two more runs in the fourth inning to close the scoring. Winning pitcher Roth fanned 15 batters in his no-hit effort. Rangel smacked three singles with an RBI. Scott Timmerman singled twice with an RBI. Chad Brandt singled with two RBI and Roth and Bill Chapman added RBI singles.

Neither team scored in the final frame and the crown went to the Counselors. Winning pitcher Miller scattered 10 hits and fanned seven batters. Losing pitcher Kurt Oswald allowed only four hits. Sumner's erased a 4-1 deficit with four runs in the bottom of the third inning to take a 5-4 lead. Sumner's added two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to open up a 7-4 lead. Hungarian Home scored twice in the fifth inning to narrow the deficit to 7-6 but failed to score in the final two frames. Mike McClinton and Todd Kellner led Sumner's with a double and single apiece. Chris Ketterer led Wur-Ell with a triple and double. Mike Spirk added three singles.

Schlemmer's single gave the Hungarian Home 1-0 in the bottom of the sixth inning. Sunmer's failed to score in the top of the seventh inning. Winning pitcher Ketterer fanned 14 batters in his no-hit performance. Losing pitcher Kellner struck out six hitters in his one-hit effort.

Riverside Sumner's downed the Wampum Counselors, 7-1, to win the 36th Ellwood City Pony League Championship at Freidhoff Field. Mike McClinton fired a two-hitter and smacked two hits to lead Sumner's to the title. The league conducted a double-elimination tournament to determine the championship. Both Summer's and the Counselor's had one loss apiece to force the final game. Sumner's opened up a 2-0 lead with two runs in the top of the first inning. Counselor's scored a solo run in the bottom of the frame to cut the deficit to 2-1. Sumner's added three more runs in the top of the second inning to increase their lead to 5-1. Sumner's added a solo run in the fourth inning and a single run in the top of the sixth inning to make the final score 7-1. Winning pitcher McClinton fanned eight batters in his two-hit performance. McClinton led Sumner's offensively witha double and single. Matt Simpson added two singles and Mike Friello added a double. Friello and and Jason Krut excelled defensively for Sumner's.

Erik Kincade tossed a two-hitter to lead Hungarian Home to a 2-0 win over Laurich's in the opening game of the 37th Ellwood City Pony League Championship Series at Sanders Field. The win gave Hungarian Home a one-game lead in the best-of-three series. After four scoreless innings, Hungarian Home broke the deadlock with two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Shannon Kahne, Rob Babcock and Rick Duncan singled to load the bases. After a force out, Brain Primerano drew a walk to score Babcock to give Hungarian Home a 1-0 lead. Ron Durbin followed with a walk scoring Duncan to up the lead to 2-0. Winning pitcher Kincade fanned seven batters and allowed just one batter to reach third base. Kahne and Babcok led Hungarian Home with two singles apiece.

Laurich's, managed by Bill Simpson, won the best-of-three series, two games to one. After scoring two unearned runs in the first inning, Laurich's added four more runs in the second inning. Simpson, Jim Tritt and Dave Bupp each had RBI-singles in the inning. In the fifth inning, Tritt, Dave Lutz and Andy Suders rapped RBI-singles to raise the lead to 9-0. Tritt led Laurich's at the plate with three singles, three RBI and three runs scored. Simpson added three singles and scored three runs. Doug Cisco led Hungarian Home with two singles. Winning pitcher Simpson scattered seven hits and was added by three double plays. and faced just 25 batters.

Adam Newman and Dave Miller added two singles apiece .Clint Krupa led the Saxons with three singles and Tim Sheeler added a triple and single. Winning pitcher Mills hurled a complete-game for Calgon.

The Saxons jumped out to an 8-2 lead after four innings and led 10-4 after six innings. But Calgon rallied in the top of the seventh inning to slice the lead to 10-8. With the tying run at second base, centerfielder Tim Grinnen raced in to catch a fly to end the game. Tim Sheeler led the Saxons with a double, single, two walks and scored four runs. R.J. DeTullio tripled, singled, walked twice and drove in three runs. Jake Mazzant had three singles and three RBI and Grinnen added a home run and single. Bronson Bailey and Darrel Nye led Calgon with two singles. Winning pitcher DeTullio fanned 11 batters for the Saxons.

Heath Johnke led Myers with two doubles and two singles. Paul Peters added a double and single, Kris Spanik and Eric White singled twice and Dan D'Angelo added a double. A.M. Ingold led Federal with two doubles, a single and five RBI. Greg Brandt doubled and singled twice. Wilie Monsolvich homered and singled and Chad Wiech singled twice. Johnke was the winning pitcher in relief.
