1950
ELLWOOD CITY LITTLE LEAGUE ORGANIZED
The Ellwood City Little League, for players ages 9-12, is formed by the new Ellwood City Amateur Baseball Program organization. The organization of the Ellwood City Little League is spearheaded by several individuals-many who will become the league's managers and coaches. Larry Dinley is elected the first Ellwood City Little League president and Denny Schill is the league secretary. The Ellwood City Little League joins Little League Baseball in Williamsport, Pennsylvania and becomes the first chartered league in Lawrence, Beaver. Butler and Mercer counties. It is also among one of just over 300 leagues in 37 states to be sanctioned by Little League Baseball. On May 8, the managers of the teams met to draft players at the American Legion Post #157 hall. The teams, coaching staffs and team colors were as follows: Elks-Alex Roebuck and Bud Hudson(purple); Kiwanis-Chuck Timblin and James Barnett(maroon); Legion-Norman Pack and Wayne Baird(blue); Lions-Russell Butchelli and Carl Meise(blue), Moose-Dick Freidhoff and John Feerst(red) and the Rotary-Lee Shirey and James Aughenbaugh(blue).
MOOSE EDGES LEGION, 2-1, IN THE FIRST ELLWOOD CITY LITTLE LEAGUE GAME EVER PLAYED
On Tuesday, June 6 the Moose and the Legion squared off in the first game ever played in the Ellwood City Little League. The game is played at the Lincoln High School Field on Fourth Street. The game was played on the lower portion of the football field with 180-foot fences. The opening ceremonies included the Lincoln High School Band and the American Legion Band. All six teams were in uniform. The Moose edged the Legion, 2-1, in a thriller by scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Ellwood City Ledger reported that "Little League is hear to stay, judging from the hit it made at last night's inaugural at the Lincoln High School Field. One of the largest crowds ever to witness a baseball game in Ellwood was on hand for the opener." The lineups for the first game were: Legion-Leroy McQuiston-cf, Chester Patterson-2b, Don Best-3b, Don Shoemaker-1b, Ralph Morelli-p, Bob Timmerman-ss, Frank Keller-cf, David Smith-lf, Don Shinsky-rf, John Perry-c; Moose-Mario Morini-ss, Ray Foley-p, Joe Choffi-1b, Rocco Manzo-c, Dick Lackey-cf, Bob Mallary-3b, Ronny Mazzano-lf, Kossey-rf, Mike Nocera-2b. The game was a pitching duel between pitchers Ray Foley of the Moose and Ralph Morelli of the Legion. The Legion took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning when Morelli walked, stole second base and scored on an error. The Legion held the lead until the bottom of the sixth inning. Rocco Manzo led off the final at-bat for the Moose with a triple to left field. Dick Lackey followed with a single to score Manzo to tie the score at 1-1. The ensuing throw from the outfield was errant and allowed Lackey to round the bases to give the Moose a 2-1 victory. Winning pitcher Foley fired a two-hitter and fanned 11 batters for the Moose. Morelli threw a four-hitter for the Legion. Manzo led the Moose with a triple and Lackey, Mario Morini and Bob Mallary added singles. Chester Patterson and Don Shoemaker singled for the Legion.
KIWANIS' JIM STAGGERS HITS FIRST HOME RUN
On June 8, Jim Staggers of the Kiwanis hit the first home run in Ellwood City Little League history. He received an autographed baseball from the Pittsburgh Pirates for his accomplishment.
RALPH MORELLI THROWS FIRST PERFECT GAME AND NO-HITTER
On June 22, the Legion's Ralph Morelli threw the first perfect game
and no-hitter in Ellwood City Little League history in a 4-0 win over the Lions.
MOOSE WINS FIRST ELLWOOD CITY LITTLE LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP
The Moose, ending the season with a perfect 14-0 record, won the first Ellwood City Little League championship. The Moose, managed by Dick Freidhoff, won both the first and second halves for the regular season.

Pittsburgh Pirates announcer Rosey Roswell was the guest speaker at the Ellwood City Little League banquet at the Elks Hall. The Moose were honored as the first Little League champions.

MOOSE REPEATS AS LITTLE LEAGUE CHAMPIONS
The Moose won the 2nd Ellwood City Little League title for the second year in a row. The Moose, managed by Dick Freidhoff, won the first half with a 6-1 record and the second half with a 7-0 record.
1952
MOOSE WINS 3RD LITTLE LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP-ENDS WITH 14-0 RECORD
The Moose won the 3rd Ellwood City Little League Championship. The Moose, managed by Dick Freidhoff, won the first half with a 9-0 mark and the second half with a 9-0 slate. The Moose outscored their opponents, 303-32, on their way to a glittering 18-0 mark. In three seasons, the Moose compiled a 45-1 mark.
1953
MOOSE WINS 4TH ELLWOOD CITY LITTLE LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP
The Moose won the 4th Ellwood City Little League Championship. The Moose, managed by Dick Freidhoff, won the first half with a 9-0 record and the second half with a 9-1 record. The Moose captured the crown for the fourth straight season.
1954
MOOSE, LEGION DECLARED 5TH ELLWOOD CITY LITTLE LEAGUE CO-CHAMPIONS
The Moose and the Legion were declared co-champions for the 5th Ellwood City Little League season. The Legion, managed by Fred DeTullio, won the first-half with a 10-1 record and the Moose, managed by Dick Freidhoff, won the second-half with a 9-1 record. The Moose defeated the Legion, 7-2, in the opening game of the championship series. Joe Sheeler was the winning pitcher for the Moose. Nick Frisk hit a three-run homer and Sheeler also homered. However, after three nights of rain the series was cancelled and co-champions were declared by league officials.

MOOSE, ELKS SQUARE OFF FOR 6TH ELLWOOD CITY LITTLE LEAGUE TITLE
The Moose and the Elks squared off for the 6th Ellwood City Little League Championship. The Moose won the first-half crown with a 10-1 record and the Elks won the second-half title with a 9-2 slate.

The win gave the Elks a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series.Winning pitcher Bob Smilek fired a three-hit shutout for the Elks. Duane Sofia tossed a five-hitter for the Moose. Larry Barnett doubled for the only extra-base hit of the game.

The Moose downed the Elks, 6-4, in the 6th Ellwood City Little League Championship Series at Ewing Park. The victory tied the series at one game apiece. Skip Freidhoff led the Mosse with a double and single. Wes Weidenhammer was the winning pitcher for the Moose.

The Elks and the Moose tied, 5-5, in the deciding game of the 6th Ellwood City Little League Championship Series at Ewing Park. The best-of-three series remained knotted at one game apiece.

Dave Schweinsburg smacked a home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift the Moose to a 1-0 win over the Elks to win the 6th Ellwood City Little League Championship at Ewing Park. The victory gave the Moose, managed by Dick Freidhoff, the best-of- three series, two games to one. Winning pitcher Duane Sofia tossed eight shutout innings for the Moose. Bob Smilek threw seven shutout innings before Schweinsburg's smash over the center-field fence. The win gave the Moose their sixth title in six years.

Dave Schweinsburg threw a perfect game to lead the Moose to a 6-0 win over the Rotary in Ellwood City Little League play.
ELKS EDGE MOOSE, 4-3, TO WIN FIRST-HALF TITLE PLAYOFF
The Elks and the Moose tied with 9-1 records for the first-half crown forcing a one-game playoff. The Elks won the first-half by edging the Moose, 4-3. Winning pitcher Bob Smilek and Frank Rocco had two hits for the Elks.
ELKS SLIP BY MOOSE, 2-1, TO WIN SECOND-HALF TITLE PLAYOFF
The Elks and the Moose tied for the second-half crown with 9-1 records forcing a one-game playoff. The Elks defeated the Moose, 2-1, to win the second-half crown. Bob Smilek was the winning pitcher for the Elks with 11 strikeouts. Vince Tammaro homered for the Moose.
ELKS WIN 7TH ELLWOOD CITY LITTLE LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP
The Elks won both halves to win the 7th Ellwood City Little League Championship. The Elks, managed by George Patterson, ended with 10-1 records in both halves and a 20-2 record overall.
ELLWOOD CITY DOWNS BEAVER FALLS, 5-2, TO WIN 5TH ELLWOOD CITY LITTLE LEAGUE TOURNAMENT
Ellwood City won the 5th Ellwood City Little League Tournament with a 5-2 victory over Beaver Falls. Bob Smilek was the winning pitcher for Ellwood City. Ship Freidhoff led Ellwood City at the plate with three hits. Dick Freidhoff managed Ellwood City to the title.

ZONA LEADS ELKS OVER MOOSE, 6-2, IN 8TH ELLWOOD CITY LITTLE LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
Lou Zona used his arm and bat to lead the Elks to a 6-2 win over the Moose in the opening game of the 8th Ellwood City Little League Championship Series at Ewing Park. The win gave the Elks a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series. Winning pitcher Zona tossed a six-hitter for the Elks. Zona also led the Elks at the plate with a double and two singles.
ELKS DEFEAT MOOSE, 8-2, TO WIN 8TH ELLWOOD CITY LITTLE LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP
The Elks defeated the Moose, 8-2, to win the 8th Ellwood City Little League Championship at Ewing Park. The Elks, managed by George Patterson, completed a two-game sweep of the best-of-three series. Paul Latshaw was the winning pitcher for the Elks. Bob Latiano and Bill Barnett hit home runs for the Elks.
ELLWOOD CITY WINS 6TH ELLWOOD CITY LITTLE LEAGUE TOURNAMENT WITH 6-4 OVER NEW CASTLE
Ellwood City downed New Castle, 6-4, to win the 6th Ellwood City Little League Tournament at Ewing Park Field. Jim Bukac led Ellwood City at the plate with a three-run homer. Lou Zona was the winning pitcher for Ellwood City.

KIWANIS SLIPS BY MOOSE, 2-1, IN 9TH ELLWOOD CITY LITTLE LEAGUE TITLE OPENER ON SINGLE BY KARDISH
The Kiwanis slipped by the Moose, 2-1, in the opening game of the 9th Ellwood City Little League Championship Series at Ewing Park. Dave Kardish singled home the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Kiwanis a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series. Bob Poholsky was the winning pitcher for the Kiwanis in relief.
JERRY BUKAC HURLS MOOSE OVER KIWANIS, 1-0, TO KNOT 9TH ELLWOOD CITY LITTLE LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
Jerry Bukac hurled the Moose to a 1-0 shutout over the Kiwanis in the 9th Ellwood City Little League Championship Series at Ewing Park. The victory tied the best-of-three series at one game apiece. Winning pitcher Bukac fanned 12 batters for the Moose. The Moose scored the only run of the game when Dennis Landers walked, Bukac doubled and Landers scored on an error. Kiwanis pitcher Dave LeLoup, aided by a triple play by his defense, allowed one unearned run.

The Moose edged the Kiwanis, 7-6, to win the 9th Ellwood City Little League Championship at Ewing Park. The Moose, managed by Al Ruhe, won the best-of-three series, two games to one. The Moose scored three runs in the fourth inning and two runs in the fifth inning to open a 7-3 lead. Jim Bukac led the Moose with a three-run homer. Rich Racz smacked a two-run homer for Kiwanis. Dave Johnson was the winning pitcher with Bukac in relief.

The Moose won the 10th Ellwood City Little League Championship by defeating the Elks, 10-8, at Ewing Park. The Moose, managed by Joe Gratchen, won the Shaughnessy playoff. Tony DeLisio led the Moose with three hits and two home runs. Chuck Landolfi also smacked two home runs for the Moose.

The Moose downed the Legion, 6-1, to win the opening game of the 11th Ellwood City Little League Championship Series at Ewing Park. The win gave the Moose a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series. Winning pitcher Chuck Belonzi tossed a five-hitter to lead the Moose. Belonzi also led the Moose at the plate with two singles.

The Moose held a slim 5-4 lead before scoring eight runs in the top of the sixth inning. The Kiwanis scored five runs in the bottom of the inning. Ron Maietta rapped four singles for the Moose. Steve Pavick homered in his first at-bat before being walked intentionally the next three at-bats. Rich Pearlman added two doubles. Del Schuster led the Kiwanis with three singles. Butch Schneider was the winning pitcher for the Moose.

The Kiwanis and the Moose met for the 12th Ellwood City Little League Championship. The Kiwanis won the first-half title and the Moose won the second-half crown.
SMITH HOMER KEYS KIWANIS 8-4 WIN OVER MOOSE IN 12TH ELLWOOD CITY LITTLE LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES OPENER
Rick Smith smacked a three-run homer in the top of the sixth inning to lead the Kiwanis to an 8-4 win over the Moose in the 12th Ellwood City Little League Championship Series at Ewing Park. The win gave the Kiwanis a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series. Smith, Doug Adams and Jim Burnsworth homered for the Kiwanis. Winning pitcher Steve Baker added two hits. Rich Pearlman belted two home runs and a single for the Moose.

Eric Cartwright smacked a record four home runs to lead the Legion to a 17-5 win over the Braves.
KIWANIS OUTSLUGS WAMPUM, 16-8, IN THE 15TH ELLWOOD CITY LITTLE LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP OPENER
Kiwanis outslugged Wampum, 16-8, to win the opening game of the 15th Ellwood City Little League Championship Series at Ewing Park. The win gave the Kiwanis a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series. Rick Smith homered and Frank Lagana doubled and singled to lead the Kiwanis. Bob Chesko was the winning pitcher with Wayne Thornhill in relief. Dale Zeh led Wampum with two home runs and a double.
KIWANIS DOWNS WAMPUM, 16-7, TO WIN 15TH ELLWOOD CITY LITTLE LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP
Kiwanis downed Wampum, 16-7, to win the 15th Ellwood City Little League Championship. The Kiwanis, nanaged by Lou DiBiagio, completed a two-game sweep of the best-of-three series. Kiwanis smacked four home runs on the way to the victory. Mike Chiaro led the Kiwanis with a home run, two singles and five RBI. Rick Smith, Wayne Thornhill and Frank Lagana also homered. Bob Chesko was the winning pitcher for Kiwanis. Rich Householder homered for Wampum. The Kiwanis ended with a 21-5 record.
SMITH HITS RECORD 15 HOME RUNS FOR THE SEASON
Rick Smith of the Kiwanis ended the season with a record 15 home runs in the Ellwood City Little League. Wayne Thornhill of the Kiwanis smacked 14 home runs.
ELLWOOD CITY DEFEATS NEW BRIGHTON, 7-1, TO WIN 13TH ELLWOOD CITY LITTLE LEAGUE TOURNAMENT
Ellwood City defeated New Brighton, 7-1, to win the 15th Ellwood City Little League Tournament. Tony Joseph was the winning pitcher for Ellwood City. Vic Sharek and Wayne Thornhill hit back-to-back home runs in the first inning for Ellwood City. Dale Zeh added a triple.

ELLWOOD CITY AMATEUR BASEBALL PROGRAM CONSTUCTS ELLWOOD CITY LITTLE LEAGUE FIELD
The Ellwood City Amateur Baseball Program constructed a new Ellwood City Little League Field at Ewing Park. The field is directly north of the Ellwood City High School Field. League officers, team coaches and team players raked the infield of stones in preparation of the upcomimg season.
ELKS, LEGION TIE FOR ELLWOOD CITY LITTLE LEAGUE AMERICAN LEAGUE TITLE
The Elks and the Legion tied for the Ellwood City Little League American League regular season title. Both teams ended the season with 16-3 records. A one-game playoff was necessary to decide the American League crown.
ELKS EDGE LEGION, 1-0, BEHIND COUGHLIN TO WIN ELLWOOD CITY LITTLE LEAGUE AMERICAN LEAGUE CROWN
The Elks edged the Legion, 1-0, to win the Ellwood City Little League American League crown at Ewing Park. Both teams finished the regular season with a 16-3 record. Rick Coughlin fired a one-hitter and scored the winning run for the Elks. After a scoreless first inning, the Elks scored the only run in the second inning. Coughlin reached on an infield single and Joe Mancini reached on a bunt single. A balk moved up both runners. With two outs, Coughlin scored on a wild pitch to give the Elks a 1-0 lead. In a game where no ball left the infield for either team, the Elks finsihed off the 1-0 victory. Winning pitcher Coughlin fanned 12 batters. Legion pitcher Joe Lamenza allowed just two infield hits to the Elks. Coughlin and Mancini singled for the Elks and Rick Manning singled for the Legion.
ELKS DOWN CHEWTON, 5-1, IN OPENING GAME OF 16TH ELLWOOD CITY LITTLE LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
The Elks downed Chewton, 5-1, in the opening game of the 16th Ellwood City Little League Championship Series at Ewing Park Field.
The win gave the Elks a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series. Winning pitcher Rick Coughlin tossed a four-hitter with 10 strikeouts. Bill Gottuso led the Elks with two singles. Aubrey Majors tripled and singled for Chewton.
CHEWTON RALLIES PAST ELKS IN SIXTH INNING, 10-9, TO TIE 16TH ELLWOOD CITY LITTLE LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
Chewton scored twice in the bottom of the sixth inning to rally past the Elks, 10-9, in the 16th Ellwood City Little League Championship Series at Chewton. The win knotted the best-of-three series at one game apiece. With the Elks holding a 9-8 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning, Chewton rallied to win the game. Mike Palagallo walked and Steve Biega singled sending Palagallo to third base. After Biega stole second base, Aubrey Majors lifted a foul fly to right field. Palagallo scored on the sacrifice fly to tie the score at 9-9. The relay throw to home was errant and Biega crossed home plate to give Chewton the 10-9 victory. Tom Paszint led Chewton with a home run and two singles. Biega added two singles. Palagallo was the winning pitcher in relief for Chewton. Dennis Tammaro homered for the Elks.

The Elks downed Chewton, 10-6, to win the 16th Ellwood City Little League Championship at Ewing Park. The win gave the Elks, managed by Curly Venezie, the best-of-three series, two games to one. Rick Coughlin led the Elks with a two-run homer, a three-run double and a single with five RBI. Bill Fletcher added three singles. Art Shakespere tripled and singled and Bill Gottuso doubled and singled. Winning pitcher Vic Guido fanned seven batters for the Elks. Mike Palagallo led Chewton with two doubles. Alan Guy singled twice and Steve Biega homered for Chewton. Aubrey Majors doubled in three runs.

Bob Wojtkewicz gave the Ellport Pirates a 2-0 lead with a home run. Winning pitcher Jeff Potter threw the first four innings with Bob Maine closing out the game with two innings of work. Wilbur Altman fired a no-hitter as the Rotary shutout the Kiwanis, 3-0, in the opening game of the 18th Ellwood City Little League Championship Series at the Ewing Park Little League Field. The win gave the Rotary a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series. Winning pitcher Altman fanned nine batters. Blake McKim had 11 strikeouts for Kiwanis. Dan Carosi led the Rotary with a two-run double.

The Rotary , managed by Jiggs Joseph, won the best-of-three series, two games to one. The Rotary scored eight runs in the first inning-capped by Wilbur Altman's 225-foot grand slam over the football stands. Tim Lash was the winning pitcher with Altman in relief. Altman led the Rotary with a grand slam and single. Jeff Sainato added two singles. Blake McKim singled twice for the Kiwanis.

John Geniviva belted a three-run homer to key a seven-run last inning rally to lead the Federal past Rotary, 7-4, in the opening game of the 21st Ellwood City Little League Championship Series at the Ewing Park Little League Field. The win gave the Federal a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series. After Federal sliced the lead to 4-2, Geniviva's home run gave the Federal a 5-4 lead. Frank Sbarro was the winning pitcher for Federal. Jeff Sainato homered and singled for the Rotary.

The Elks outslugged the Kiwanis, 15-9, to win the 25th Ellwood City Little League Championship at the Ewing Park Little League Field. The Elks, managed by Martin Nocera, won the best-of-three series, two games to none. John Perry and Jeff Altman led the Elks with four hits apiece. The Kiwanis scored two runs in the top of first inning before the Elks responded with five runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 5-2 lead. The Elks added two more runs in the bottom of the second inning to open up a 7-2 lead. But the Kiwanis roared back in the top of the fourth inning with seven runs to take a 9-7 lead. The Elks scored a run in the bottom of the inning to narrow the deficit to 9-8. The Elks rallied for seven runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 15-9 lead. Kiwanis failed to score in the top of the sixth inning to secure the crown for the Elks. Perry led the Elks with two home runs and two singles. Altman smacked a double and three singles. Rich Courson added a double and two singles and Bob Viccari douled twice. Anthony DeCaria had a double and single and Joe DeSanzo added a home run. Bill Perry had a double and single. Kevin Amadio led the Kiwanis with a double and two singles. Ray Carr added three singles. Altman was the winning pitcher.

KIWANIS EDGES ELKS, 3-2, TO WIN 27TH ELLWOOD CITY LITTLE LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP BEHIND SMITH
The Kiwanis edged the Elks, 3-2, to win the 27th Ellwood City Little League Championship at Freidhoff Field. The Kiwanis , managed by Vince Fotia, won the double-elimination playoff tournament with one loss. Jim Smith threw a complete-game victory and had a triple and single at the plate. Kiwanis jumped out to a lead in the bottom of the first inning. Jim Sacco walked and Smith followed with a triple to give the Kiwanis a 1-0 lead. Smith scored on an error to up the lead to 2-0. In the bottom of the fourth inning the Kiwanis added another tally. Dave Patterson walked and Mark Fotia doubled him to third base. Sacco followed with a single scoring Patterson to raise the Kiwanis lead to 3-0. The Elks staged a rally in the top of the sixth inning. Tony DeCaria doubled and scored on an error to decrease the deficit to 3-1. With two outs and the bases loaded, Bob Varrati drew a walk to force in Gina Wolfe to slice the deficit to 3-2. But Smith got a ground out to end the threat and the game. Winning picther Smith fanned 10 batters for Kiwanis. Smith led the Kiwanis with a triple and single. Fotia added a double and single. DeCaria led the Elks with a double.

The Elks downed the Kiwanis, 12-5, to win the 28th Ellwood City Little League Championship at Freidhoff Field. The Elks, managed y Tim Slaughter, won the double-elimination championship tournament. Bill Perry led the Elks with three hits, including a grand slam. After the Kiwanis scored a run in the top of the first inning, the Elks exploded for ten runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 10-1 lead. After a scoreless second inning, The Kiwanis cut the deficit to 10-4 with a three-run rally in the top of the third inning. The Elks scored a tally in the bottom of the inning to increase their lead to 11-4. The Elks added another run in the bottom of the fourth inning to raise their lead to 12-4. The Kiwanis scored a run in the top of the fifth inning to account for the 12-5 final margin. Perry led the Elks with a grand slam home run, double, single and five RBI. JIm Bellissimo added three singles and two RBI. Bill Balin singled twice and Bob Varrati added a double. The Kiwanis were led by Dave Patterson, Jim Smith and Steve Fogel with a double. Steve Battaglia was the winning pitcher in relief.

MOOSE EDGES ROTARY, 3-2, ON COVERT'S PINCH-HIT SINGLE TO WIN 29TH ELLWOOD CITY LITTLE LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP
The Moose edged the Rotary, 3-2, to win the 29th Ellwood City Little League Championship, 3-2, at the Ewing Park Little League Field. The Moose, managed by Herman Petti, went undefeated in the single-elimination playoff format. Mike Covert's pinch-hit single in the bottom of the sixth inning scored Rob Minto with the game-winning run. The Rotary scored a run in the top of the first inning on an RBI-single by Doug Loccisano to take a 1-0 lead. The Moose scored on Pat McKelvey's RBI-double to tie the score in the bottom of the inning at 1-1. The Moose took a 2-1 lead on an RBI-double by Bob Ramella in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Rotary knotted the score at 2-2 with another RBI-single by Loccisano in the top of the fifth inning. In the top of the sixth inning, the Rotary loaded the bases with one out. But reliever McKelvey got a strikeout and pop-up to end the threat. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Minto and Ramella drew walks. Covert followed with a single scoring In the bottom of the sixth inning, Minto and Bob Ramella walked for the Moose. Covert followed with a single scoring Minto to clinch the crown for the Moose. McKelvey was the winning pitcher with 2/3 innings of relief for the Moose. Chris Cioffi and Rob Minto tossed the first 5-1/3 innings and the trio combined for 13 strikeouts. Loccisano allowed three hits and fanned 10 batters for the Rotary. McKelvey led the Moose with a double. Loccisano led the Rotary with two singles and two RBI. Ron Boschini singled twice and Barry Silvestri added a triple.

Tony Aniceti doubled in the winning run as the Elks slipped by the Moose, 5-4, to win the 40th Ellwood City Little League Championship at Ewing Park Little League Field. The Elks, managed by Don Covert, were undefeated in the single-elimination playoff format. The Elks scored twice in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead. The Moose responded with two runs in the top of the second inning to tie the score at 2-2. The Elks scored twice in the bottom of the inning to take a 4-2 lead. After a scoreless third inning, the Elks scored two runs in the top of the fourth inning to knot the score at 4-4. Neither team scored in the fifth inning.The Moose failed to score in the top of the sixth inning to set the stage for Aniceti's game-winning hit. The Elks were led by Paul Berggren with two singles. Mike Rozzi and Aniceti added doubles. Rob Brough led the Moose with a double, single and three RBI. Winning pitcher Bob Varrati fanned 10 batters.

WAMPUM UPTOWN WINS 41ST ELLWOOD CITY LITTLE LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP
Wampum Uptown won the 41st Ellwood City Little League Championship. Wampum Uptown, managed by Joe Kosior, compiled a 15-1 record in the regular season. Rotary finished in second place with a 10-6 record. Playoffs were not conducted due to all-star tournament commitments.

Wampum Uptown and The Elks shared the 42nd Ellwood City Little League Championship. Wampum Uptown won the National Division pennant and the Elks won the American Division pennant. The league championship was not conducted due to all-star tournament commitments.

Kiwanis added two more runs in the fourth inning to open up a 7-0 lead. Chewton First Seneca scored their lone tally in the top of the ffifth inning to account for the final 7-1 margin. Winning pitcher Loccisano allowed five hits and fanned wight batters. Baldelli led Kiwanis at the plate with a homer, double, single and two RBI. Loccisano had three singles and two RBI. Bill Viccari homered with three RBI. Tony Rossi singled twice for Chewton First Seneca. Bob Kosior added a double.

The victory tied the best-of-three series at one game apiece. Kiwanis scored twice in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead. Chewton First Seneca responded with two runs in their half to tie the score at 2-2. Chewton First Seneca took the lead 3-2 with a single tally in the bottom of the third inning. Kiwanis tied the score at 3-3 with a run in the top of the fifth inning. Chewton First Seneca erupted for six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a commanding 9-3 lead. Kiwanis failed to score in the top of the sixth inning. John DeLuca led Chewton First Seneca with three singles and three RBI. John Staph added two singles and Tony Rossi rapped a double. Lance Loccisano led the Kiwanis with two doubles. Winning pitcher Shawn Kirkwood threw a four-hitter for Chewton First Seneca.

The Moose, managed by Mike DeOtto, won the best-of-three series, two games to one. After two scoreless innings, Evans took the lead in the bottom of the third inning. John Frisk singled in a run to give Evans a 1-0 lead. An error and a groundout scored two more runs to up the Evans lead to 3-0. After managing just one hit through five innings, the Moose erupted in their final at-bat. Joe Miller led off with a double and moved to third base on a wild pitch. After a strikeout, Dave Costa singled in Miller to cut the lead to 3-1. Justin Aquino followed with a single moving Costa to third base. Aquino stole second base to put both runners in scoring position. Dave Melfi followed with a triple into the right-field corner scoring Costa and Aquino to tie the score at 3-3. Perry Mayer follwed with a single up the middle scoring Melfi to give the Moose a 4-3 lead. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Costa fanned the first two Evans' batters. The next three batters reached base on two walks and an infield single, But Costa struck out the next batter to give Moose the title. Costa led the Moose with two singles. The Wolves shutout the Kiwanis in the opening game of the 44th Ellwood City Little League Championship Series at Freidhoff Field. The win gave the Wplves a one-game lead in the best-of-three series. Adam Wehman allowed just two hits over 5-1/3 innings for the Wolves. After two scoreless innings, the Wolves scored twice in the bottom of the third inning. A walk, two errors and a single by Anthony Colianni gave the Wolves a 2-0 lead. Micah Begley's RBI-single in the fifth inning gave the Wolves a 3-0 lead. The Kiwanis loaded the bases in the top of the sixth inning but Anthony Colianni got the final two outs. Winning pitcher Wehman fanned 14 batters in 5-1/3 innings. Colianni got the save and struck out two batters. Ryan Venezie led the Kiwanis with two doubles.

The Wolves erased a 3-0 deficit to defeat the Kiwanis, 5-3, to win the 44th Ellwood City Little League Championship at Freidhoff Field. The Wolves, managed by Keith Foley, won the best-of-three series, two games to none. Adam Wehman drove in three runs, including the go-ahead runs to lead the Wolves. The Kiwanis took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI-single by Rocky Carsele. In the bottom of the third inning the Kiwanis added two more runs. Dan DeMase smacked a solo home run and Ryan Russo stole hometo increase the lead to 3-0. The Wolves began their comeback in the fourth inning with two runs. Wehman had an RBI-single and and scored on an error to cut the deficit to 3-2. In the top of the fifth inning, the Wolves scored three runs to take the lead. The Wolves load the bases and scored on a fielder's choice to tie the score at 3-3. Wehman's two-run single gave the Wolves the winning 5-3 margin. Wehman led the Wolves with two singles and three RBI. Colianni singled twice and drove in a run. Russo led Kiwanis with a single, two walks and an RBI. DeMase belted a solo homer. Micah Begley threw three innings of hitless relief with five strikeouts to pick up the win.

The Jaycees and Sons of Italy shared the 46th Ellwood City Little League Championship. Both teams ended the regular season tied for first place and split their season series. Due to rain cancellations and Ellwood City's participation in the Little League World Series, the playoffs were not completed. The win gave the Moose a one-game lead in the best-of-three series. Honsaker smacked three hits and threw four shutout innings of relief. Wampum Legion scored four runs in the top of the first inning to take a 4-0 lead. The Moose responded with three runs in thebottom of the inning to cut the deficit to 4-3. Wampum took a 5-3 lead with a single run in the top of the second inning. Honsaker erased the lead with a three-run homer in the bottom of the inning to give the Moose a 6-5 lead.. The Moose added two more runs in the third inning to up the lead to 8-5. Honsaker led the Moose with a home run, double, single, walk and five RBI. Eric Boariu tripled, doubled and drove in two runs. The win knotted the best-of-three series at one game apiece. After a scoreless first inning, Wampum exploded for five runs in the bottom of the second inning to take a 5-0 lead. The Moose scored twice in the second inning to cut the deficit to 5-2. Wampum Legion added a run in the bottom of the fourth inning to open up a 6-2 lead. The Moose scored a single tally in the fifth inning and two more runs in the sixth inning to reduce the final margin to 6-5. Winning pitcher Coakley fired a four-hitter and struck out 17 batters for Wampum Legion. Alex Stiles led Wampum Legion with a double and two RBI. Behind the arm and bat of Jeremy Honsaker, the Moose defeated Wampum Legion, 8-5, to win the 48th Ellwood City Little League Championship Series at Freidhoff Field. The Moose, managed by Larry Honsaker, won the best-of-three series, two games to one. Honsaker allowed two hits over five innings and drove in four runs to lead the Moose. The Moose took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on Honsaker's two-run homer. The Moose struck again in the top of the second inning with three more runs. Jared Mazzant singled in a run and Honsaker followed with a two-run double to up the lead to 5-0. Wampum Legion got on the board with a solo home run by Jesse Hunter to cut the deficit to 5-1 in the bottom of the third inning. In the bootom of the fourth inning, Wampum Legion scored when Zack Coakley singled, stole second and third base and scored on a fielder's choice to cut the deficit to 5-2. The Moose added three insurance runs in the top of the sixth inning when Eric Boariu smacked a bases-clearing triple to increase the lead to 8-2. The insurance would be ncecesary as Wampum Legion would eventually bring the winning run to the plate in the bottom of the sixth inning. Wampum Legion scored three runs to slice the deficit to 8-5 and loaded the bases with two outs. But the Moose got a strikeout to end the threat and claim the title. Honsaker led the Moose with a homer, single and four RBI. Boariu added a triple with three RBI. Jesse Hunter led the Wampum Legion with a home run. Winning pitcher Honsaker allowed two hits over five innings and fanned 13 batters. Boariu picked up the save.

Kevin Cunningham doubled in a run for Kiwanis in the bottom of the inning to cut the deficit to 2-1. Beltz hit a solo home run in the top of the third inning to give the Elks a 3-1 lead. In the top of the fifth inning, Beltz hit another solo home run to up the lead to 4-1. Christian Patterson'RBI-single for Kiwanis cut the deficit to 4-2 in the bottom of the inning. The Elks pulled away in the sixth inning on Ben Conklin's RBI-double, a two-run double by Hudson and Beltz' RBI-single to increase the lead to 8-2. Kiwanis rallied for four runs with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning. An RBI-single by Adam Gorgas, an error, an RBI-single by Patterson and an RBI-double by Cunningham brought the tying run to the plate before the Elks got the final out. Beltz led the Elks with two home runs, a single and three RBI. Hudson doubled twice and drove in four runs and Conklin douled twice. Cunningham led the Kiwanis with two doubles and two RBI. The Elks scored six runs, highlighted by Mike Fidell's two-run homer, in the bottom of the second inning to take a 9-2 lead. The Kiwanis cut the deficit to 9-5 with three runs in the third inning. The Elks led 10-6 in the bottom of the fourth inning before Levon Hudson rapped a three-run home run to up the lead to 13-6. The Kiwanis scored a run in the top of the fifth inning to slice the lead to 13-7 before the Elks scored four runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 17-7 lead and invoke the ten-run rule to end the game. The win gave the Elks a one-game lead in the best-of-three series. After a scoreless first inning, the Elks exploded for eight runs in the bottom of the second inning to take an 8-0 lead. In the top of the third inning the Wolves answered with a four-run rally to cut the deficit to 8-4. But the Elks responded with a five-run rally to take a 13-4 lead in the bottom of the third inning. Bob Marshall led the Elks with a triple, two singles and three RBI. Mike Fidell doubled and singled with two RBI and Eric Oliver smacked a two-run double. Dan Mancini tripled in Frank Lemmon in the bottom of the sixth inning as the Elks edged the Wolves, 2-1, to win the 50th Ellwood City Little League Championship at Freidhoff Field. The Elks, managed by Herman Petti, won the best-o-fthree series, two games to one. In the top of the first inning, Nick Nardone singled for the Wolves with one out. Andrew DeMase followed with a line drive that was speared by Steve Lodovico and turned into an inning-ending double play. The Wolves took a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Mike Silvestri singled, moved to second on an error, went to third base on a groundout and scored on an error to take the lead. With two runners on second and third base in the top of the third inning, the Wolves threatened again. But Lodovico corralled a line drive to save two runs to end the inning. In the bottom of the inning, the Elks deadlocked the score. Eric Oliver was hit by a pitch before Jacob Walker and Mike Fidell drew walks to load the bases. Bob Marshall drew another walk scoring Oliver to tie the game at 1-1. In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Elks threatened to break the deadlock. With first and third base occupied, Marshall grounded to Wolves' first baseman Tom Gottuso who nailed the runner at the plate to preserve the 1-1 tie. After the Wolves went down in order in the top of the sixth inning, the stage was set for the Elks' game-winning run. Tynan Hudson drew a walk before being forced out by Lemmon's ground out. Mancini followed with a drive down the line into the rightfield corner scoring Lemmon from first base to give the Elks the 2-1 victory and the crown. Starting Elks' pitcher Fidell allowed four hits without a run in five innings. Marshall was the winning pitcher with a scoreless inning of relief. In the bottom of the sixth inning the Rotary scored three runs to narrow the lead to Lions lead to 10-9 before the rally fell short. Tony Tammaro led the Lions with a triple, single and three RBI. David Fike doubled and singled with three RBI. Drake Davare and Garrett Brough added doubles. The Rotary were led by Sean Swisher with a triple, double and two RBI. With the bases loaded and two outs, the defensive play of the game was made when Travis St. Clair snagged a line drive off the bat of Anthony Punzell to turn a possible extra base hit into the final out of the inning. In the top of the sixth inning the Lions added an insurance run. Crawford doubled and stole third base and home to widen the Lions lead to 3-1. In the second and third innings, the Kiwanis scored eight runs while the Rotary scored two runs to make the score 16-8. Josh Williams provided the pitching, Andrew Defelice and Bradley Scott provided the offense and Blake Beatrice provided the defense for Rotary. Williams hurled a four-hitter, Defelice and Scott drove in two runs apiece and Beatrice turned a triple play. After the Rotary took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, Dylan Main's RBI-single in the top of the third inning to tie the score at 1-1. In the bottom of the third inning, Rotary scored twice on a double by Scott to take a 3-1 lead. Defelice followed with an RBI-single to give Rotary a 4-1 lead. The Lions sliced the lead to 4-2 on an RBI-single by Main in the top of the fifth inning. Rotary added an insurance run in the bottom of the inning. The Lions had two runners in scoring position in the second inning with none out but failed to score a run. In the third inning, both teams had runners at second and third base with two outs and failed to score a run. After a scoreless fourth inning, the Lions broke the deadlock in the top of the fifth inning. D.J. Barrett and Max Keally walked and moved up on a wild pitch. Pavick's slow roller to first base scored Barrett to give the Lions a 1-0 lead. Dylan Main followed with a double scoring Keally to up the lead to 2-0. The Wolves took the lead in the top of the second inning witha three-run rally. Romanio walked and scored on a double by Jordan Reece to the score 1-1. The Wolves, managed by Joe Bellissimo, won the best-of-three series two games to none. The Wolves and Sons of Italy were locked in a scoreless tie after three innings. In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Wolves took a 1-0 lead on a double by Austin Richard and a single by Vincent Romanio. In the top of the fifth inning, Trey Moses walked and moved to third base on walks to Ryan Wehman and Tom Novosel. Moses scored on a wild pitch to tie the score at 1-1. The Wolves retook the lead in the bottom of the inning. Trey Houk walked and Patrick Pawlak singled sending Houk to third base. Houk scored on an error to give the Wolves a 2-1 lead. In the top of the sixth inning Ethan Fotia walked and moved to third base on a single by Michael Fenechi. Moses singled in Fotia to tie the score at 2-2. With score tied 1-1 after the first inning, the Elks erupted for seven runs in the bottom of the second inning. The Elks drew four straight walks to take a 2-1 lead. Anthony Roth followed with a single to give the Elks a 3-1 lead. Two more walks upped the lead to 5-1. Luke Angelucci followed with a bases-clearing double to increase the lead to 8-1. ELKS EDGE LIONS, 5-4, IN OPENER OF 63RD ELLWOOD CITY LITTLE LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
The Elks scored in the top of the sixth inning to edge the Lions, 5-4, in the opening game of the 63rd Ellwood City Little League Championship Series at Freidhoff Field. The win gave the Elks a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series. The Lions held a 4-2 lead after three innings. The Elks tied the score in the top of the fourth inning on back-to-back home runs by Anthony Roth and Raleigh Boots to tie the core at 4-4. After a scoreless fifth inning, the Elks scored the game-winning run in the top of the sixth inning. With two outs, Luca Botti doubled and Jake Roxberry singled to score the Elks a 6-5 lead. The Lions threatened in the bottom of the sixth inning with the potential tying and winning run on base but failed to score. The Elks were led by Roth and Boots with home runs. Botti added a double. Winning pitcher Botti threw a complete-game for the Elks.
MONTGOMERY, JOSEPH LEAD LIONS TO 8-6 WIN OVER ELKS TO TIE 63RD ELLWOOD CITY CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
Jason Montgomery smacked a grand slam and Gino Joseph fanned 15 batters to lead the Lions to an 8-6 win over the Elks at Freidhoff Field. The victory tied the best-of-three series at one game apiece. The Lions scored in three runs in the top of the first inning to open a 3-0 lead. The Elks rallied for three runs in the bottom of the inning to tie the score at 3-3. The Elks scored a run in the bottom of the second inning to take a 4-3 lead. The Elks added another run in the bottom of the fourth inning to raise the lead to 5-3. The Lions erupted for five runs in the top of the fifth inning to take the lead. The Lions scored a run to narrow the deficit to 5-4. With the base loaded, Jason Montgomery belted an opposite-field grand slam to take an 8-4 lead. The Elks got a run back on Anthony Roth's home run to slice the deficit to 8-6. Neither team scored in the final inning to force a third game and deciding game. Montgomery led the Lions with a grand slam home run and four RBI. Ryan Bartolomeo doubled and singled and Devon Hudspath singled twice. Alex Fotia singled twice to lead the Elks. Roth added a home run. Winning pitcher Gino Joseph struck out 15 batters for the Lions.

The Lions scored nine runs in the third inning on their way to a 12-2 win over the Elks to win the 63rd Ellwood City Little League Championship at Freidhoff Field. The Lions, managed by Tony Joseph, won the best-of-three series, two games to one. The Elks scored two runs in the top of the first inning to take a 2-0 lead. The Lions rallied for three runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 3-2 lead. After a scoreless second inning, the Lions exploded for nine runs to take command of the game. The inning was highlighted by a three-run homer by Jason Montgomery and a two-run homer by Ryan Bartolomeo to increase their lead to 12-2. After the Elks failed to score in the top of the fourth inning the two-run rule was invoked and the title went to the Lions. Bartolomeo led the Lions with a home run, single and four RBI. Montgomery had a home run with three RBI and Jasper Schweiger doubled and singled with two RBI. Devon Hudspath tripled and Ben Dymond added a double. Luca Botti led the Elks with a double. Winning pitcher Shayne Sedgwick tossed a three hitter with eight strikeouts.

WOLVES HOLD OFF JOHNNY'S PIZZA SHOP, 11-10, IN 64TH ELLWOOD CITY LITTLE LEAGUE TITLE OPENER
The Wolves held off Johnny's Pizza, 11-10, in the opening game of the 64th Ellwood City Little League Championship Series at Freidhoff Field. The win gave the Wolves a one-game lead in the best-of-three series. The Wolves scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 4-0 lead. After a scoreless second inning, Johnny's Pizza scored a single run in the top of the third inning to cut the deficit to 4-1. In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Wolves scored four runs. After scoring a run, Nick Neupauer belted an opposite-field three-run home run over the rightfield fence to up the Wolves lead to 8-1. The Wolves held a 9-3 lead after four innings. Johnny's Pizza Shop scored four runs in the top of the fifth inning to slice the deficit to 9-7. The Wolves scored two insurance runs in the bottom of the inning to up their lead to 11-7. In the top of the sixth inning, Johnny's loaded the bases with none out. Lennon Barry tripled down the rightfield line scoring two runners to make it 11-9. But Wolves' second baseman Jake Alberts throw to catcher Shane Smith nailed a runner from first base at home. A fielder's choice scored Barry to slice the deficit to 11-10. The Wolves retired the final batter to end the game. Donavin Chambers led the Wolves with three singles. Neupauer homered with three RBI. Doug Balin and Brett Eaton singled twice to lead Johnny's Pizza. Barry had a triple with three RBI. Winning pitcher Devon Hudspath allowed one hit over three innings.

Nick Neupauer ripped three hits and drove in four runs to lead the Wolves over Johnny's Pizza, 10-4, to win the 64th Ellwood City Little League Championship at Freidhoff Field. The Wolves, managed by Mike Neupauer, won the best-of-three series, two games to none. The Wolves scored four runs, two runs on a two-run double by Neupauer, in the top of the first inning to take a 4-0 lead. Johnny's Pizza narrowed the deficit to 4-2 with two runs in the bottom of the inning. After a scoreless second inning, the Wolves added three more runs in the third inning. An RBI-double by Jacob Metheny and a home run by Shane Smith keyed the rally to raise their lead to 7-2. After a scoreless fourth inning, Neupauer smacked a two-run double for the Wolves in the top of the fifth inning to make the score 9-2. Devon Hudspath added an-RBI double to increase the Wolves' lead to 10-2. In the bottom of the sixth inning Rick Pitrelli hit a two-run homer to account for the final 10-4 margin. Neupauer led the Wolves with two doubles, a single and four RBI. Metheny douled and singles and Smith add a home run. Pitrelli led Johnny's Pizza with a two-run homer. Brady Welsh and Storm Chambers added doubles. Winning pitcher Donavin Chambers allowed two runs over four innings for the Wolves.

Johnny's Pizza edged the Wolves, 3-2, in the opening game of the 65th Ellwood City Little League Championship Series at Freidhoff Field. The win gave Johnny's Pizza a one-game lead in the best-of-three series. In the top of the first inning, Johnny's Pizza took a 1-0 lead. Balin singled stole second and third base and scored on Joe Rush's sacrifice to give the Wolves a 1-0 lead. In the second inning, Johnny's Pizza added to their lead. Joe Hudson walked, stole second and third base and scored on Milo Sesti's RBI-single. Johnny's Pizza extended their lead in the tird inning. Max Kuffer and Jon Ferrante drew bases on balls. Kuffer stole third base and scored on Marley Schweiger's sacrifice fly to up the lead to 3-0. The Wolves rallied back with two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Caden Crizer singled and went to third base on Nick Neupauer's single. Nick Neupauer stole second base and Ryan Gibbons followed with a single scoring Crizer and Neupauer to cut the deficit to 3-2. After a scoreless fifth inning, the Wolves had the potential tying and winning runs in scoring position before the last two batters struck out Winning pitcher Balin allowed two runs in six innings. Gibbons threw three shutout innings for the Wolves in relief.
JOHNNY'S PIZZA DOWNS THE WOLVES, 16-3, TO WIN THE 65TH ELLWOOD CITY LITTLE LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP
Johnny's Pizza downed the Wolves, 16-3, to win the 65th Ellwood City Little League Championship at Freidhoff Field. Johnny's Pizza, managed by Joe Bellissimo, won the best-of-three series, two games to none. Johnny's Pizza secured the final spot in the playoffs by winning the play-in game. After a scoreless first inning, Johnny's Pizza scored three runs in the bottom of the second inning. Singles by Frank Bellissimo and Joe Hudson and a walk to Storm Chambers loaded the bases. Milo Sesti hit a sacrifice fly and an two-base error scored three runs to give Johnny's Pizza a 3-0 lead. After the Wolves scored a run in the top of the third inning, Johnny's Pizza exploded for six runs in the bottom of the inning on key hits by Doug Balin, Andy Vrabel and Tanner Tomak to increase their lead to 9-1. The Wolves got a run back on Caden Myers' RBI-single to decrease the deficit to 9-2. Johnny's Pizza erupted for six more runs in the fourth inning. After singles by Marley Schweiger and Bellissimo, Hudson doubled in Schweiger to up the lead to 10-2. Chambers followed with a three-run homer over the leftfield fence to increase the lead to 13-2. Andy Vrabel made it back-to-back homers with a blast over the centerfield fence to make it 14-2. Johnny's Pizza added two more runs to up the lead to 16-2.I The Wolves scored a run in the top of the sixth inning on a single by Rody Polojac, a stolen base and Tyler Richards single to account for the final 16-3 margin before the 10-run rule was invoked. Vrabel led Johnny's Pizza with a home run and single. Chambers had a home run with three RBI. Hudson doubled and singled and Bellissimo singled twice. Winning pitcher Chambers allowed one run over three inning.

MURRAY, HAMPTON LED AMERICAN LEGION OVER MOOSE, 7-4, IN OPENER OF 66TH ELLWOOD CITY LITTLE LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP
R.J. Murray and Ryan Hampton combined to drive in seven runs to lead the American Legion over the Moose, 7-4, in the opening game of the 66th Ellwood City Little League Championship at Freidhoff Field. The win gave the American Legion a one-game lead in the best-of-three series. The American Legion took the lead in the top of the first inning. Carter Lutz singled and Anthony Ross drew a walk. The runers pulled a double steal and scored on Hampon's single to take a 2-0 lead. After a scoreless second inning, the American Legion added three more runs in the third inning. James Meehan singled and Nico DeCaria drew a walk. Murray followed with a three-run homer over the rightfield fence to up the lead to 5-0. The Moose countered with two runs in the bottom of the inning. Zion Bunney and Danny D'Itri walked before Buckie Biskup followed with a single to make the score 5-1. Rodney Grimes singled in D'Itri to cut the deficit to 5-2. The American Legion added two more runs in the top of the fourth inning. Tyler Baker and Lutz singled and Roth was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Hampton followed with a single scoring Baker and Lutz to increase their lead to 7-2. In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Moose rallied for two runs. Grady Smith and D'Itri walked and both runners moved up on a wild pitch. Grymes followed with a single scoring both runners to decrease the deficit to 7-4. The Moose failed to score in the sixth inning. Murray led the American Legion with a homer,single and three RBI. Hampton singled twice with four RBI. Lutz. Meehan and Baker added two singles apiece. Grymes led the Moose with two singles and three RBI. Hampton was the winning pitcher with nine strikeouts in 3-2/3 innings.
AMERICAN LEGION DOWNS THE ELKS, 3-0, TO WIN 66TH ELLWOOD CITY LITTLE LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP BEHIND HAMPTON, MURRAY
The American Legion downed the Elks, 3-0, to win the 66th Ellwood City Little League Championship at Freidhoff Field. The American Legion, managed by Brad Meehan, won the best-of-three series, two game to none. Ryan Hampton and R.J. Murray combined on a four-hitter and both drove in a run to lead the American Legion. Outstanding plays by both teams proved to be a key factor throughout the game. The Moose threatened in the first inning with with a runner on second base and one out. American Legion shortstop Alexander Roth fielded a grounder over pitcher's mound tossing out the batter at first base. First baseman Nico DeCaria fired to catcher James Meehan at home to nail the sliding runner to end the inning. The American Legion scored a run in the bottom of the inning. Carter Lutz singled, moved to second base on a wild pitch and scored on Hampton's single to give the American Legion a 1-0 lead. In the top of the third inning the Moose threatened with a runner on base but American Legion centerfielder Zach Gatto corraled a sinking line drive off the bat of Ashton Wilson to erase a possible extra-base hit. In the fourth inning, the American Legion added to their lead. Murray singled and moved to second base on a walk to Gatto. Murray stole third base and home to up the lead to 2-0. The American Legion added an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth inning. Meehan led off with a single and DeCaria drew a walk. After a double-steal, Meehan scored on a ground out to rasie the lead to 3-0. The Moose failed to score and the American Legion captured he crown. Winning pitcher Hampton threw four innings of shutout relief. Starting pitcher Murray threw two scoreless innings. Dan D'itri led the Moose with two singles and Cade Owens added a double.

WOLVES DOWN MOOSE, 11-1, TO WIN ELLWOOD CITY LITTLE LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP-ZITO FANS 15 BATTERS, RAPS TRIPLE, TWO DOUBLES TO POWER WOLVES TO TITLE
The Wolves downed the Moose, 11-1, to capture the Ellwood City Little League Championship at Freidhoff Field on Tuesday night. Joe Zito powered the Wolves to the title with his arm and his bat. Zito fired a two-hitter and fanned 15 batters on the mound and rapped a triple and two doubles at the plate. The Wolves, managed by Justine Zona, went undefeated in the double-elimination playoff with a 3-0 record.
After the Moose failed to score in the top of the first inning, the Wolves erupted for six runs in the bottom of the inning. Luca Zito led off with a single and Cameron Keller ripped a single to right field sending Zito to third base. Zito scored on a wild pitch to give the Wolves a 1-0 lead. Joe Zito followed with a double to the left field fence scoring Keller to give the Wolves a 2-0. Michael Pelissier reached on an error and Emmett Reitnauer was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Samuel Anthony followed with a single to drive in Zito and Pelissier to increase the Wolves lead to 4-0. With two outs, Carlow Morrow walked to load the bases. An error allowed Reitenour and Anthony to score to raise the Wolves' lead to 6-0. The Wolves added a another run in the bottom of the second inning. Joe Zito doubled to right field, moved to third base on a fielder's choice and scored on a fielder's choice to give the Wolves a 7-0 lead.
The Wolves added to their lead with a three runs in the bottom of the third inning. Luca Zito reached on a fielder's choice, Keller walked and both scored on Joe Zito's triple to increase the Wolves lead to 9-0. Zito scored on a fielder's choice to up the lead to 10-0. In the top of the fourth inning, the Moose tallied a run. Isaiah Thompson led off with a single and Mason Bable followed with a walk. Both runners moved up on a passed ball and Thompson scored on a wild pitch to narrow the Wolves lead to 10-1. The Wolves scored a solo run in the bottom of the frame. With two outs, Brayden Kline was hit by a pitch and Morrow delivered an RBI-double to give the Wolves an 11-1 lead. Zito fanned all three batters he faced in the top of the fifth inning and the 10-run rule was invoked to give the Wolves the title.
Wolves' winning Pitcher Joey Zito allowed two singles and recorded all 15 outs by strikeouts. Zito also led the Wolves at the plate with a triple, two doubles and three RBI. Morrow doubled and walked twice with an RBI and Samuel Anthony singled with three RBI. Keller and Luca Zito singled and drew a base on balls. Henrii Larkin and Isaiah Thompson singled for the Moose.
The Wolves roster is as follows: Samuel Anthony, Gavin Jones, Cameron Keller, Brayden Kline, Carlow Morrow, Jacob Otlowski, Michael Pelissier, Emmett Reitnauer, Gabriel Singer, Alton Sipes, Joseph Zito and Luca Zito. The Wolves were managed by Justine Zito and the assistant coaches were Keith Keller and Gene Pelissier.
